Maria Cäcilia Schweinberger

Bankruptcy and banking attorney, Ph.D. candidate researching law in finance and macro-economics.

Maria is a bankruptcy and banking attorney educated in Brazil (USP, 2008), Germany (LL.B. Bucerius Law School, 2010; First State Exam, 2012), and the U.S. (LL.M. Columbia Law School, 2013; Member of the NY State Bar, 2016). Her transactional expertise includes financial law and regulation of G-SIBs, bank resolution, recovery and resolution planning, QFCs, and financial crisis management in the U.S. and the E.U. She is a Ph.D. candidate in law and finance at the University of Munich School of Law and currently clerks at the Circuit Court of Berlin in Germany. From 2009-2011 Maria worked as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany.

As YSI coordinator Maria organizes the Economics, Finance, and Law Working Group for which she conceptualized, among other projects, the series Central Banks: The Superstars of Our Time?
